Energy Audits

Tropical Energy Solutions has conducted over 100 Level 2 Energy Audits for Ergon Energy through the Powersavvy and Kleinhardt Sustainability and Eco-Efficiency Group (KSEG) programs. 

Energy AuditorsErgon DepotWe audited 56 Ergon Energy depots, stretching from Warwick to Cooktown and from the coast to Mt Isa. The current energy usage, annual energy consumption, and electricity related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions were assessed for each depot. 

In total, over 14,000 individual electrical loads were logged and analysed for energy savings opportunities.  Energy audit outcomes and savings recommendations were presented to Ergon management in site specific reports and through workshops at six locations across Queensland.

Tropical Energy Solutions conducted a further 47 energy audits for Ergon Energy in remote and isolated communities in far North Queensland.

The energy audits were AS/NZS 3598:2000 compliant and covered hotels, banks, retail outlets, schools, government offices, hospitals, industrial facilities and residential buildings on Thursday Island, Horn Island and in the Northern Peninsula Area. 

Remote Island Remote Building The audits were part of the Powersavvy pilot project which aimed to reduce energy consumption by 20% in remote communities through a combination of behavioural and technology oriented energy saving measures.

The Powersavvy pilot was recognised with a Highly Commended Queensland Engineering Excellence award from Engineers Australia due to the dedication and commitment of the Powersavvy project team. Tropical Energy Solutions were amongst the consultants that assisted the core contract team and would like to congratulate everyone who contributed to the project’s success.
